Volunteers
Southampton Fresh Air Home's community of volunteers comes together primarily for our Decorators-Designers-Dealers benefit party in June of each year. Many of our volunteers have worked with us over the years to prepare for and staff the party, helping to create the fabulous environment that makes this benefit so popular and fun.
Throughout the year, our family of volunteers helps by soliciting auction and furniture donations, assisting with benefit mailings, providing valuable support in the office, and helping throughout the camp with projects on the grounds and in the buildings.
For those interested in working with the camp and campers, there are a few volunteer positions available during the summer program season.
EVENT SUPPORT
The success of our spring event, the Decorators, Designers and Dealers Sale and Auctions Benefit Gala, is dependent on our team of dedicated volunteers who work together to make the fundraising weekend the success it is today. Over 40% of the Home’s annual operating revenue comes from this effort!
Most volunteers are required to attend a meeting in May as a training and introduction to volunteer responsibilities. Volunteer hours vary from a few hours a week during event set up to working both days of the event weekend in 6 hour shifts. Of course, the Fresh Air Home provides breaks and snacks for all of our volunteers. The “DDD” takes place the first weekend in June.
Volunteers positions include:
Furniture Sales: Sat. and Sun. event weekend. You will be assigned to a decorated room selling furniture and writing sales tickets.
Cashiers: Sat. and Sun. event weekend. This person should feel comfortable with numbers and handling money.
Auction Support: Saturday event night watching the auction tables, bid sheets, helping winners pick up their items and packing up after the auction is over.
Most volunteers commit to working both days on Event Weekend
Saturday volunteer hours are from 3 pm to 9:00 pm and Sunday from 9:00am – 3:00p.m.
