Camp Staff

Welcome to the SFAH Staff page.

SFAH is looking for warm, nurturing, empathetic people who will contribute to the sense of community and well-being of our campers, who range in age from 8 to 18 years.

SFAH takes great pride in being among the most prestigious residential summer camps for children with physical disabilities in the United States and we strongly believe in making sure that everything we do is of the highest quality. This philosophy is at the core of all that we do and for everyone who works here there is no job too big, or small, as we try to create an amazing environment for our campers, and us, to live in.

In addition to a committed year round staff, we have many specialists who help to make camp great each summer. We have a full medical staff with an RN on the premises at all times. We also have dining room employees, laundry, housekeepers and a maintenance crew.

Current Staff can log in here for information about this upcoming camp season. You will be able to access all the necessary forms, bulletins, information and updates. If you are interested at working at SFAH this summer click here to apply.

Many of our staff come back year after year. All candidates must complete an interview process to ensure that everyone who works here is someone who embodies the values we hold true to at SFAH. All staff members have a yearly background check.

Each summer we employ over 75 people with approximately 35 assigned to work directly with the campers. Our staff come to us from many areas of the United States, as well as Europe.

Staff members will generally have completed at least one year of college before coming to camp with many studying to work in a field related to special needs. The staff is 60% female and 40% male and we maintain a 2 to 1 camper to staff ratio. Our average staff member is 20 years of age and 95% of staff live on-site.

Staff have their own recreational area with TV's, computers, and a gym for use during their leisure time. There is also an camp provided bus and a fleet of bikes available to staff.

The camp season begins in late June, and ends in mid-August. Staff members are required to attend pre-camp orientation, which begins seven days before the campers arrive. Some activities require additional training programs, which are scheduled before pre-camp orientation. We offer Lifeguard, Water Safety Instruction, First Aid, CPR and Trip Leader Certification courses.
